Conversation after tee ball practice last night:
Aiden to Mommy, "Mom, when I turn 6 (in a month) can you please buy me a cup?"
Mommy holding back laughter and playing dumb, "What do you mean by cup?"
Aiden innocently replies, "Well, Mom, they're only for boys. You put them on your body so that if the ball hits you it doesn't hurt."
I simply told him to ask Daddy.

Not Me Monday!!!
- I did not have a productive week at work this week. I was not feeling pretty good about that until 3 students I had recruited backed out. That would not make me totally bummed out since it was out of my control.
- I did not ask my husband to take care of getting the boys out the door on Friday morning just so I could sleep in. I do not love him so much more for doing so with out complaining. I did not enjoy sleeping in until 9:30 before heading out to lunch with two great girlfriends. I did not have an enjoyable time with said girlfriends.
- I also did not forgot to ask one of the girlfriend's how her birthday went! I would not have been that stuck on a couple of my issues to have forgotten to ask what her kids and hubby purchased for her. That would just be selfish friend right there. I would not be asking for her forgiveness in front of blogger world (I do love you Steph! And I am sorry!!!)
- We did not take the boys to the circus on Saturday night. They did not enjoy themselves and most certainly did not fall asleep on the way home totally tuckered out. I would not have taken a picture of that to share with each of you (along with some others).
- I did not borrow a treadmill from my mother-in-law because I do not know myself well enough to not know that I probably will not follow through with this. I would not have this idea in my head that I could just jump right on and make it a mile with no issues. I am surely NOT in that bad of shape. I promise you I was not right about that fact!
- Aiden did not come in while I was on said treadmill and say, "Mom ... you are getting skinnier already!" I did not take that to heart and consider stopping the workout after only 5 minutes. That would be lazy!
- It did not hit me while taking a shower after said workout that in September Aiden ran his first one mile fun run in 9 minutes and 14 seconds. I did not want to cry after realizing it took me 15 minutes to walk 1/2 of a mile!
- I am not determined to lose this weight! I am not determined to get into a workout pattern and stick to it. I do not think I can do this and I do not know that I cannot do this alone!
- I did not crack up laughing after working out and giving Logan a hug while still in my tank top after he asked me (while pointing to my mile of cleavage) "Mom, what's that crack for?" I did not laugh even harder when he asked why he didn't have one.
Have a great week everyone!

Not Me!
- I did not have such a headache on Monday night that I lied to my children telling them it was 8:30 and bedtime when it was actually only 7:45. Only a mean, lying mother would do such a thing.
- I did not fall off the diet track at all this week. Only someone with very little self control would do such a thing ... but have you tasted those cream horns from W*l-Mart ... seriously people! So good!
- I am not missing my little nephew like crazy this week. I did not look at some pictures from his birth and cry.
- I did not want to change my name so that Mom or Mommy wasn't an option. I did not get totally frustrated on Tuesday because I couldn't use the restroom without two little boys screaming for me. I mean that would just be selfish for me to want to do my business in private. What would I be thinking?
- I did not make my kids play longer than they really wanted out in the snow just so I could get that perfect scrapbooking shot. Nope ... not me! I did not post a couple of the pictures at the end of this post.
- I am not dreading work this week.
- I did not blog about picking the nose belong to someone else or wiping the bottom of someone else. That would be soooo gross! (see blog entry below).
- I did not go shopping all day on Saturday with friends. I would not have done that and left my husband home to do errands on one of his only Saturday's off. What kind of selfish wife would do that????
- I did not feel bad that Aiden had to miss a day of school on Friday. I was not sad because his perfect attendance was ruined nor did I feel bad that he was missing their make up Christmas party. He was not upset either.
- I am not tired of snow storms.
- I did not have a wonderful weekend with the family (hey ... the shopping was with some family too!) and I am not sad that it is over.

Carrie Out for 2008 ...
Good evening.
I am sitting here enjoying the sounds of the boys setting up the game, "Ants in the Pants" in order to play with Daddy. They are so excited to play these games with us lately (we really hit it big in the game department this year).
Anyway ... we have had a wonderful holiday season thus far. We started on the 23rd with Christmas at our house for Marcus' side of the family. Marcus made a wonderful dinner while others pitched in to make it complete. The kids had a fun time together. The night ended a bit early due to weather, but it was still fun. Christmas Eve morning Marcus made a HUGE breakfast for the four of us. We stayed in our pj's until mid afternoon when we headed to a Christmas Eve service. We ended up staying up until 1 am wrapping gifts and such ...whew! Christmas morning the boys actually slept in until 8 and then ate breakfast before digging into the gifts. They were both thrilled with their gifts. Aiden's eyes were huge when he saw that he finally got the skateboard he has been begging for and Logan's eyes were equally as large when he saw his new Thomas bike. We headed out the afternoon for Alexandria and about a million gifts with my family (can you say overboard?????) The boys got a basketball shoot thing with 15 other games! Marcus got a snowblower and I received a Kitchen-Aid mixer and new pots and pans! Now ... where are those cooking lessons I've needed for so long?
Anyway --- we are heading for Missouri tomorrow morning for a few days. I really miss my family out there and am excited to see all of them. My Aunt Leslie and her kiddos are going to be staying with us so that our FIVE boys can play together. Can you see nerf gun mania??? I will be sure to share the pics!
So ... this is my last post for 2008. As I sit here and think of all I've been through this year, I can hardly believe it! New house, new job, Dad had a stroke, celebrated my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary, my parent's 30th wedding anniversary, Marcus turned 30, Aiden turned 5, Logan turned 3, I turned 25 (just checking to see if you are really reading this), I finished college, Aiden started kindergarten, became landlords ... I could go on and on! But it's amazing to me how much I've seen God in each one of these items (and obviously more). Our faith grew a lot in 2008 ... and I am sure God has more faith stretching for us in 2009.
I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year and I'll write in a few days!
Love,
Carrie
PS ... the game table has now started a game of "Operation." Did you know that the guy in that game now holds a cell phone!!!????

First Play Date
Ok, I know this is corny, but I have to share anyway. Two days ago, Aiden came home with a note from a parent. This parent asked said that her son, Brent, would like Aiden to ride the bus home with him on Friday so that they can make cookies, play and have dinner together. Now, Aiden has talked about Brent S. since the very first day of school. I include Brent's last initial as Aiden ONLY refers to Brent by his first and last name. Has cracked us up every time since school started! Anyway, I guess I think that this is a special moment because I remember how big of a deal it was when a friend asked for YOU and only YOU to come home with them after school. It was an even bigger deal when the mom's let it happen! So, today is the big day. Aiden woke himself up for school and was ready 15 minutes earlier than normal! He is so excited to be riding bus 5B instead of his bus home. So sweet. Of course I went over some rules with him and reminded him to use his manners and to eat what is given to him at dinner. He quickly looked and me and said, "But what if it's meatloaf ... or YOUR sloppy joes???" (we recently learned that he doesn't like MY sloppy joe's but LOVES the school's and he has always hated meatloaf ... but what mom would make meatloaf for a play date ??? right???). Anyway, I assured him that he could probably tell her those are two things he doesn't like and she wouldn't make them and to have fun. I cannot wait to hear how it goes ... and to eat some of the cookies they make! Do you remember the first time you went home with a friend after school? The ones I remember doing that with lived in my neighborhood: Nichole and Kim. I still am in touch with Nichole, but I haven't heard from Kim in years ... memories.
On a heavier note ... please pray for a former coworker of mine named Bill. He is a billboard poster and fell off a billboard on Wednesday and had to be air lifted to Indy where he is in critical condition. He has a broken ankle, hip, and a skull fracture. I will post updates if and when I hear them.
Love,
Carrie

Fun Times
Good morning,
We had a fun weekend. Friday night Marcus took the boys to see Madagascar 2 while I scrapped. It was sad to learn that the scrapbook store that I use once a month is closing. Sign of the times, I guess. Saturday I scrapped a little more and then we were off to a Fort Wayne Komets hockey game. We only had 3 tickets, so Logan sat this one out, but Aiden had a great time. He was really into it, especially when the guys hit the glass (Mommy too!) I've attached a picture from the hockey game.
The picture of Logan (and Aiden) is of Logan being a rocker. I know, we are horrible parents, but we are big fans of the 80's/90's hair bands (AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Cinderella ...) and there is a station on our satellite that plays all of this fine music. A lot of the times we have that on rather than the TV. Friday night before dinner we were listening and Logan comes out of his room with this hat on and sunglasses banging his head. It was too funny!

Last night we had Aiden's first parent - teacher conference. It went well. She commented that he is a great story-teller. Scary, I think. And I don't know WHERE he gets that from! He had perfect attendance for the first trimester. He received a certificate and a pencil which he is very proud of. (Pics attached). He really enjoys school and likes his teacher ... thank goodness!

Well, Thanksgiving is going to be at our house for the first time ever (and maybe the last depending on how the food turns out). I am making brunch for everyone because Marcus will have to go to bed right after that (nope, he doesn't get Thanksgiving off). So, then we'll just hang around until dinner time and have the normal Thanksgiving trimmings. Should be fun ... I hope! I am sure a blog will follow.
Have a happy Tuesday!

Mommy has Super Powers!
Last night I decided to make cookies with the boys. We voted for chocolate chip cookies ... yummo! I had gotten all of the ingredients out and ready and had turned to get the bowls. I told the boys not to touch anything and I noticed that Logan was reaching for something and I told him not to touch anything while facing the opposite way. Aiden was shocked and asked, "Mom, can you see out of your brain?" I laughed and said, "No. Why?" He said, "Well, how did you know Logan was doing that?" Again, I laughed and said, "Well, Mommy has eyes in the back of her head!" He was shocked again and asked, "Does Daddy?" I said, "No, just Mom."
So, yes. I am sure I am a horrible mother because I told this fib and said that Daddy does not have this secret power, but it was really funny! Plus, Aiden is my sneaky one, so if this wards off any wrong doing, I am ok with that fib.
Another funny, er, cute thing Aiden said last night was about a stray cat that has been lingering in our neighborhood recently. He looked out the window and said, "Mom, do you see that cat out there? It's adorable." HA! Adorable! Who knew that he knew that word?
The last funny thing was from Logan. As you know, they now have faux hawk hairdo's. Yesterday morning I told Logan he looked like a rooster and he said, "No ... I am a chicken!" My bad, my bad.
Talk to you all soon,
Carrie

Rambling ...
I am not sure that I have much to post. Friday we went to watch Aiden in his first class 'play.' He was a doggy (much better than what I was in my first class play ... a skunk!) He did a great job and then we got to stay and do a craft with him. Saturday I scrapbooked all day and Marcus took the boys to watch Brody race go carts. They didn't get home until midnight. Marcus was tucking Aiden into bed and Aiden said, "Dad, this turned out to be a great day. I thought I was going to play outside all day, but instead we got to watch go carts!" So cute. Sunday we went to church, napped and then spent a few hours at Alvin and Steph's so that Alvin could have a play date with the boys. They 4-wheeled for hours!
I am thinking... about the fact that I only have six weeks of school left before I am FINALLY done with my bachelor's! Praise the Lord. (Yes, next week this will be the same thought with only 5 weeks, then 4 and so on).
I am thankful for... The above answer and for my boys. I had a wonderful evening with them last night eating leftovers and reading books. I filled their baths up with way too many bubbles and we just laughed and laughed. I love seeing their personalities coming through.
From the kitchen... hahaha! Oh man ... from our kitchen you normally can hear the smoke alarm and know that mommy must be in there. Last night our kitchen was filled with the smell of hard boiled eggs and tuna (making tuna salad) and leftovers. Yumm-o!
I am wearing... my gray boots! I love boot-wearin' weather! Oh, and I am wearing my glasses, again. My contacts are giving me all kinds of issues.
I am creating... a spreadsheet to keep track of all my prospective students. We have this high tech computer program that is here to help me with it, but I just can't grasp it. Thank goodness for my trusted Excel 07.
I am going... to my first rotary meeting. I am all about networking and meeting new people, but for some reason the title of rotary has me a bit worried. Not sure why ...
I am reading... my Ethics textbook. Not nearly as enjoyable as the Shack that I just finished up. Although, both books offer ideas that I could take or leave.
I am hoping... that everything works out for the weekend. Marcus and I had a miscommunication problem (really doesn't happen often, but when it does WATCH OUT) so now we are debating which plans to ditch.
I am hearing... the radio via the computer. Star 88.3 is a great station up here.
Around the house... there are lots of toys and clothes. It's not messy, but not picked up if that makes since. Can you tell that mom is in charge this week?
One of my favorite things... is fall. I love the colors of the leaves, the sound of the leaves crunching, all the fall festivals, the smells, the fact that I can wear long sleeves and jeans without people telling me it's 90 degrees out and I am crazy ... poor circulation here people!
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Not a lot this week. I have some homework to finish up, but other than that I promised Aiden we would read several books each night and just hang out.
Here is picture thought I am sharing... This is Logan and his friend Riley. They were at a bday party and Riley was telling him how to play the game. She held his hand the entire game time. I am sharing this photo as Riley's family was one of our first friends in our new neighborhood. They moved on Sunday to Montana! They sold their house in 8 days and were off. The new couple moved in yesterday and made me really miss Riley, Samantha, Ben and Missy. I hope they are having safe travels (24 hours in a packed minivan with 2 girls ages 6 and 3 does not sound like fun).

My sensitive boy ...
Last evening while I was preparing dinner (I know ... HUGE shocker! And it wasn't even anything in a box! Craziness). ANYWAY ... last evening while I was preparing dinner (still funny) I found the movie, "Fox and the Hound" on tv. I had never actually seen it - but I figured it was ok since it was an older Disney movie ... right!? WRONG! Aiden and Logan were watching it and I happened to look over to see Aiden crying ... I mean BAWLING. I went over and asked him what was wrong and he sobbed while telling me that Todd (the fox) had lost his mommy and it was sad. I held him for a few minutes until the tears had subsided and he decided he still wanted to watch it. By the way, Logan is totally oblivious to all of this. So, about 20 minutes later while I am STILL making dinner I hear him crying again. I walk over to see what has happened now. He explained that the neighbor that was a farmer had a gun and was going to shoot Todd. He did NOT want to watch this movie anymore. Ah, it just broke my heart. Luckily, the farmer did not shoot Todd and we continued to watch until Todd met the foxy fox and all seemed better. We turned it off before the true ending due to dinner being ready (very delicious I might add). I just thought it was so sweet that his heart was so broken and sensitive to that. My sweet boy.
The picture above is from about two years ago. Aiden had won a fish at AWANA and they were trying to decide what to name him. They were debating between Nemo and George. He went with Nemo. We've had three fish since that Nemo ... all have been named Nemo. HA.
Have a great day!

Faith of a Child
I don't have to tell any of you that live in Northern Indiana that it's dry here ... really dry. Since we moved here nearly 6 weeks ago - it's rained once (of course we were camping in a pop up camper that leaks, but at least it rained). The grass is so dry that you cannot walk on it barefoot (unless you're a Farmer sibling that can walk across glass with no problem). ANYWAY ... Last night we got a little rain. I was working late when I received this text from Marcus: "Aiden says Jesus saw our grass and said we should get rain." Faith of a Child.
Marcus has been taking Aiden to and from the bus stop in the morning and afternoons while he's home. The morning 'shift' cracks me up because it's normally three daddy's that are on the corner with the kiddos. I love that! All three of them stand there with their coffee in hand and look so proud and not at all embarassed that they are doing this duty. Anyway, when the kids get off the bus all of them are in the upper grades of elementary and no one comes to the stop to walk them back to their homes. Well, Marcus does this with Aiden. So, last night Aiden said, "Dad, do you think you can do something for me?" Marcus said, "Yes - what?" Aiden replied, "Could you stay in the house tomorrow when I get off the bus so that I can just walk with the other kids?" OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course Aiden doesn't understand the safety measures we are taking, but we never thought that it bothered him that Marcus walked him home. So, they came up with an agreement. Marcus will wait at the end of the driveway and just watch as they walk to the house. Thankfully our house is just 5 houses from the stop ... straight shot. Faith of a Child.
Lastly, if you haven't read Angie's blog entry this week titled "The Chicken" you must do so now!(http://audreycaroline.blogspot.com/) HA-LAR-IOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, one more thing. Dad returned to work on Tuesday and is doing well. He is glad to see the people on his route and I think he's getting back into his routine.
Have a great week!

Back to work!
Hello.
My Dad had an appointment yesterday with the neurologist and found out that he can return to work on Tueday after Labor Day! Hooray. I could tell he was excited to get back on his route and see his customers. He has been keeping busy so that is good.
Remember how 'strong' I was on Aiden's first day of kindergarten? I hadn't had a rough day until today/last night. He has learned to tie his shoes. I know - it's a great thing, but that was the very last thing that we had to help him do in the dressing process. He just seems so big now. Marcus took the boys to daycare this morning and Aiden was picked up on the bus there. As I passed his bus on the road I saw all the kids in there and it hit me, my kid is one of those kids laughing and screaming on the way to school. He is on that bus making friends. He informed me last night that he has been chasing the neighbor girl on recess. He tells me that he isn't 'in to' girls yet, but I am not so sure. Then there is Logan. He is talking so much more, completely potty trained (thank God!) and his personality is so evident these days. He seems like a big boy too. I have no baby-ness left in my house. So, today is a rough one for me. My sister, Jamie, is coming to stay with us tonight with my 9 month old nephew. Finally ... some baby-ness in our house ... if only for 24 hours.
Life ...

Not much
Hello. Not much going on here this weekend. The boys are going to Marcus' parents for the weekend so that Steph and I can scrapbook. LOVE THAT! Sunday I will have to do some homework though. Oh well, hopefully scrapping is productive enough that I won't care about slaving away on Sunday. HA!
Aiden has informed us that he is tired of recess. He said it wears him out because he gets all hot and sweaty. Marcus told him not to run so much and he just looked up at his dad and said, "Dad ... it's recess!" Like ... duh dad. What else would I do! Oh, we have our hands full with that one. Logan is loving daycare - er- preschool. He isn't old enough to be in the actual preschool, but he gets mad if you call it daycare. He has a school too.
Talk to you all soon!
