Not Me Monday!!!

It's "Not Me! Monday" time! I recently stumbled upon another blog that had participated and thought it seemed like a lot of fun (plus there is sarcasm and you all KNOW how much I love sarcasm!) I get to "admit" some of my failures for the week without actually "admitting" them. Head over to http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ for more Not Me's ... only after reading mine!

  • I did not have a productive week at work this week. I was not feeling pretty good about that until 3 students I had recruited backed out. That would not make me totally bummed out since it was out of my control.

  • I did not ask my husband to take care of getting the boys out the door on Friday morning just so I could sleep in. I do not love him so much more for doing so with out complaining. I did not enjoy sleeping in until 9:30 before heading out to lunch with two great girlfriends. I did not have an enjoyable time with said girlfriends.

  • I also did not forgot to ask one of the girlfriend's how her birthday went! I would not have been that stuck on a couple of my issues to have forgotten to ask what her kids and hubby purchased for her. That would just be selfish friend right there. I would not be asking for her forgiveness in front of blogger world (I do love you Steph! And I am sorry!!!)

  • We did not take the boys to the circus on Saturday night. They did not enjoy themselves and most certainly did not fall asleep on the way home totally tuckered out. I would not have taken a picture of that to share with each of you (along with some others).

  • I did not borrow a treadmill from my mother-in-law because I do not know myself well enough to not know that I probably will not follow through with this. I would not have this idea in my head that I could just jump right on and make it a mile with no issues. I am surely NOT in that bad of shape. I promise you I was not right about that fact!

  • Aiden did not come in while I was on said treadmill and say, "Mom ... you are getting skinnier already!" I did not take that to heart and consider stopping the workout after only 5 minutes. That would be lazy!

  • It did not hit me while taking a shower after said workout that in September Aiden ran his first one mile fun run in 9 minutes and 14 seconds. I did not want to cry after realizing it took me 15 minutes to walk 1/2 of a mile!

  • I am not determined to lose this weight! I am not determined to get into a workout pattern and stick to it. I do not think I can do this and I do not know that I cannot do this alone!

  • I did not crack up laughing after working out and giving Logan a hug while still in my tank top after he asked me (while pointing to my mile of cleavage) "Mom, what's that crack for?" I did not laugh even harder when he asked why he didn't have one.

Have a great week everyone!

Not Me!

So, I am trying this thing called "Not Me! Monday" I recently stumbled upon another blog that had participated and thought it seemed like a lot of fun (plus there is sarcasm and you all KNOW how much I love sarcasm!) I get to "admit" some of my failures for the week without actually "admitting" them. Head over to http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ for more Not Me's ... only after reading mine!

  • I did not have such a headache on Monday night that I lied to my children telling them it was 8:30 and bedtime when it was actually only 7:45. Only a mean, lying mother would do such a thing.

  • I did not fall off the diet track at all this week. Only someone with very little self control would do such a thing ... but have you tasted those cream horns from W*l-Mart ... seriously people! So good!

  • I am not missing my little nephew like crazy this week. I did not look at some pictures from his birth and cry.

  • I did not want to change my name so that Mom or Mommy wasn't an option. I did not get totally frustrated on Tuesday because I couldn't use the restroom without two little boys screaming for me. I mean that would just be selfish for me to want to do my business in private. What would I be thinking?

  • I did not make my kids play longer than they really wanted out in the snow just so I could get that perfect scrapbooking shot. Nope ... not me! I did not post a couple of the pictures at the end of this post.

  • I am not dreading work this week.

  • I did not blog about picking the nose belong to someone else or wiping the bottom of someone else. That would be soooo gross! (see blog entry below).

  • I did not go shopping all day on Saturday with friends. I would not have done that and left my husband home to do errands on one of his only Saturday's off. What kind of selfish wife would do that????

  • I did not feel bad that Aiden had to miss a day of school on Friday. I was not sad because his perfect attendance was ruined nor did I feel bad that he was missing their make up Christmas party. He was not upset either.

  • I am not tired of snow storms.

  • I did not have a wonderful weekend with the family (hey ... the shopping was with some family too!) and I am not sad that it is over.

Have a great week! ~Carrie

Family Ties

We have returned from Missouri. I had a great time. We arrived Wednesday evening and spent time just sharing updates with the family. I ended up with a migraine, so I rang the new year in with a pillow over my head in total silence. Oh what fun! Thursday we all gathered at my grandparent's home for Christmas lunch and gifts. It was fun watching the kids (all boys) playing together and sharing their new toys. In the picture they are sporting their new shirts that Grandma Davis made for them. So goofy (the kids, not the shirts!) Thursday night I was able to sneak away with my sis and Aunt Leslie for some girl time at Wal-Mart (there is not much to do in Rolla ... Wal-Mart is the place to go!) It was nice to get to talk with each other openly. Friday I was blessed to enjoy some one on one time with my Aunt Debbie and then we added my Great Aunt Faye for some more shopping fun. I really enjoyed spending that special time with them. Friday night I got to spend some time with my Uncle Bob and Aunt Diane and their kids. It was so hard for me realizing that their son, Adam, is turning 16 soon and has a girlfriend! I remember holding him when he was a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ugh.

Well, it's back to reality tomorrow. Aiden returns to school, Logan to daycare and I'm back to work. It's been a great 12 days off! I needed the r&r.

Love to all!

Christmas Pictures

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Hello!
Man ... the weekends go way too fast these days. Friday, Aiden had his play date with Brent S. They had a ball. The first thing Brent's mom said to me was that Aiden had wonderful manners. Man ... that makes me so proud. Earlier in the week a person at the daycare told me the same thing about Logan. I love when our parenting methods actually take! Anyway, Logan wasn't feeling well that day (I'll spare you the details) so we just vegged on the couch that evening. We watched Frosty, Frosty Returns and The Flight Before Christmas while all snuggled up on the couch. I love that. Saturday we didn't do too much as we were waiting for my parents to arrive.
I was scheduled to ring bells at W*l-M*rt for the Salvation Army that afternoon. Mom and dad hadn't arrived, so the boys got to join me for awhile. They were too cute! Logan was not thrilled, he just stood there saying, "I am CooooooooLLLLLLd!" But Aiden was having a great time! He was singing Jingle Bells and talking to anyone and everyone that walked in. At one point, he looked at his reflection and said, "Mom ... I kinda look like a dork (and he did ... no one looks great in a toboggan even if it is a Colts one). So, he decided to sing Jingle Bells with his own lyrics: Jingle dork ... Jingle dork ... Jingle dork today. It was too funny. Where does he get it? After we thawed out, we went to a 50th bday party for some friends and then to the park in CC to see the lights. It was a fun night.
Today we just hung around the house. Mom and Aiden organized his closed and clothes while Papaw, Logan and I just vegged. The above pics are the boys wrestling with Papaw. The top one Logan is kissing his nose. So cute.
Side note ... to anyone and everyone that has received a Christmas card from us ... I am soooooooooooooooooooo sorry if you now owe the USPS a penny. I just realized that I sent at least 20 cards out with the 41 cent stamp ... oops. I am such a dork sometimes! I am really not that cheap! Again, I am sorry.
Have a wonderful week!

Jingle John and his Reindeer! - Updated 11/11

***Update - FYI ... the picture on the top of the blog is 3 of the 5 pine trees we have in our backyard. It's funny ... the very reason we didn't want to purchase this home is the thing I am enjoying most about our holiday decorations! We (ok, Marcus did the work, but I asked him to do so) put lights on all 5 of them and I stare at them through our bedroom windows, living room window, kitchen windows and dining room windows! LOVE THEM!
Also, the picture of Logan (below) raising his hand was because he wanted to say something to the elf and kept his hand like that for 20 minutes! He finally said, "I have a dog!!" and that was it. Worth the wait?????? ***
Took the boys to the library last night to see a reindeer! The boys seemed to enjoy it, Mommy could have enjoyed it more if the reindeer weren't so smelly! There were a TON of people there (I am guessing 100 or more) so we didn't stick around for individual pictures, but the boys seemed ok with that. Aiden informed me that the elf wasn't real because the real ones are only in the North Pole and they wouldn't be on vacation during December! HA!
Check out our Elf Disco video before you leave. It's good for a laugh or two!

Thanksgiving

We had a great day yesterday. We had a house full of people for brunch (which I prepared). We enjoyed that meal and then attempted to get a good picture of Aiden, Logan and Gavin. As you see from the pics above, it's much harder than it sounds. They are the cutest guys in the world, but together they just look like the Three Stooges! We did enjoy the 'normal' thanksgiving trimmings for dinner (which I did not prepare) and then just hung out. Mom did crafts with the boys and at one point Logan turned to Grandma and said, "You're smart, Grandma." Pretty much made her night.
I hope that everyone had as wonderful of a time as we did.
I think it's nap time!
Love,
Carrie

Fun Times

Good morning,

We had a fun weekend. Friday night Marcus took the boys to see Madagascar 2 while I scrapped. It was sad to learn that the scrapbook store that I use once a month is closing. Sign of the times, I guess. Saturday I scrapped a little more and then we were off to a Fort Wayne Komets hockey game. We only had 3 tickets, so Logan sat this one out, but Aiden had a great time. He was really into it, especially when the guys hit the glass (Mommy too!) I've attached a picture from the hockey game.

The picture of Logan (and Aiden) is of Logan being a rocker. I know, we are horrible parents, but we are big fans of the 80's/90's hair bands (AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Cinderella ...) and there is a station on our satellite that plays all of this fine music. A lot of the times we have that on rather than the TV. Friday night before dinner we were listening and Logan comes out of his room with this hat on and sunglasses banging his head. It was too funny!

Last night we had Aiden's first parent - teacher conference. It went well. She commented that he is a great story-teller. Scary, I think. And I don't know WHERE he gets that from! He had perfect attendance for the first trimester. He received a certificate and a pencil which he is very proud of. (Pics attached). He really enjoys school and likes his teacher ... thank goodness!

Well, Thanksgiving is going to be at our house for the first time ever (and maybe the last depending on how the food turns out). I am making brunch for everyone because Marcus will have to go to bed right after that (nope, he doesn't get Thanksgiving off). So, then we'll just hang around until dinner time and have the normal Thanksgiving trimmings. Should be fun ... I hope! I am sure a blog will follow.

Have a happy Tuesday!

Weekend

Hello!
We had a wonderful weekend. Friday night the boys stayed with their grandma so that Marcus and I could get ready for Logan's birthday party on Saturday. We went into Wal-Mart and bought a Ford F-150 motorized truck. Never in a million years did I think we'd ever buy one of these because of the price, but I found one on clearance for $79 and we couldn't pass it up! Logan was thrilled (picture in slide show below). We then came home and worked for 4 hours on the monster truck cake. We cut the shape out, constructed and decorated it. I was so proud of us! The tires were ding-dongs. Food Network Challenge has nothing on me! HAHA! It wasn't perfect, but was pretty impressive for me. The party went great. Logan got some great presents and we had a house full. Thanks to everyone that came to celebrate with us. Check out the slide show below of all the festivities!
Have a great week,
Carrie

Homemade Cookies ... Icing and All!

Are you sitting down? I made homemade cookies and homemade icing with the boys this evening. SHOCKER ... I know! I thought we had some break-n-bake cookies in the fridge and I promised the boys if they took a nap after church that we would make cookies. Well ... we had no break-n-bakes and of course they remembered my promise. So, I found a recipe that only required flour, powered sugar, butter and vanilla. We had all those so off to mixing I went! It made a really thick batter so that the kids could form it into shapes. We made a turtle, butterfly, flower, several worms and Logan made two ramps. We baked them while I mixed the icing and then we decorated until our ADD kicked in and we couldn't do it any more. The boys have both eaten one and they saved a bunch for daddy to eat tonight (lucky him). I may try to sneak a pic of Marcus actually eating them ... and then a pic of him actually alive tomorrow! HA!

Back to work!

Hello.
My Dad had an appointment yesterday with the neurologist and found out that he can return to work on Tueday after Labor Day! Hooray. I could tell he was excited to get back on his route and see his customers. He has been keeping busy so that is good.

Remember how 'strong' I was on Aiden's first day of kindergarten? I hadn't had a rough day until today/last night. He has learned to tie his shoes. I know - it's a great thing, but that was the very last thing that we had to help him do in the dressing process. He just seems so big now. Marcus took the boys to daycare this morning and Aiden was picked up on the bus there. As I passed his bus on the road I saw all the kids in there and it hit me, my kid is one of those kids laughing and screaming on the way to school. He is on that bus making friends. He informed me last night that he has been chasing the neighbor girl on recess. He tells me that he isn't 'in to' girls yet, but I am not so sure. Then there is Logan. He is talking so much more, completely potty trained (thank God!) and his personality is so evident these days. He seems like a big boy too. I have no baby-ness left in my house. So, today is a rough one for me. My sister, Jamie, is coming to stay with us tonight with my 9 month old nephew. Finally ... some baby-ness in our house ... if only for 24 hours.

Life ...

Not much

Hello. Not much going on here this weekend. The boys are going to Marcus' parents for the weekend so that Steph and I can scrapbook. LOVE THAT! Sunday I will have to do some homework though. Oh well, hopefully scrapping is productive enough that I won't care about slaving away on Sunday. HA!

Aiden has informed us that he is tired of recess. He said it wears him out because he gets all hot and sweaty. Marcus told him not to run so much and he just looked up at his dad and said, "Dad ... it's recess!" Like ... duh dad. What else would I do! Oh, we have our hands full with that one. Logan is loving daycare - er- preschool. He isn't old enough to be in the actual preschool, but he gets mad if you call it daycare. He has a school too.

Talk to you all soon!
Carrie
