I Am Loved

Hello!
Did you guys have a great long weekend? I certainly did!

*Let's start with Friday. HU is now on summer hours so we get off at 12:30 on Friday's. Since Aiden was still in school, Logan was at daycare and daddy was sleeping from being on nights, I decided to head to Fort Wayne to spend some of the graduation money that was burning a hole in my pocket. I bought some great stuff! I had four hours of uninterrupted shopping, fun and only spent $59! I was in heaven. Friday night I finished packing for us to head to the lake on Saturday.
*Saturday I took the boys over to Carolyn's (mom-in-law) while Marcus got the camper ready and I headed out to Shipshewana with Steph and Missy. I was so excited about this trip. We headed into the little shops in town and had a great time. I bought a few items that were a little pricey for me, but I had my eyes on them for awhile. Now - you have to know that pricey for me is over $20!!! :) That evening we spent the night around a campfire with a lot of Marcus' family and headed to bed in the camper. Oh --- and the boys were so excited that they got to take a bath in the little tub that's in the camper. It's seriously the cutest tub ever.
*Sunday - Missy and Steph had asked me awhile back if they could take me to brunch that day for my birthday and then head to Fort Wayne to Archiver's (a wonderful scrapbooking store). How could I say no? So, we headed out around 11 and had some more great shopping and bonding time. We headed back to the lake around 3. Now, the weekend could have ended there and I would have thought it was perfect. But ... no. We pulled into Cathy's (where we stay at the lake). I saw everyone around the picnic table and didn't think anything of it. So then I see someone pop around from our camper ... it was my friend, Loranda. Again, didn't think too much of it because she's been there before. So, I just asked what she was doing there. Then Marcus and everyone started saying SURPRISE!!! What???? Huh???? What surprise? Yeah ... clueless me! THEN I see two more of my friends from Alexandria, Carrie and Jason. Ok, now it's starting to click. Marcus finally comes up to me and says that it's a party for my graduation and 30th birthday! HA! Everyone keeps asking me if I was surprised and all I can say is that surprised wasn't the word ... CLUELESS is more like it. I couldn't believe that Marcus pulled this off (no offense babe), but I had no idea he was so sneaky. I guess he's had it planned for months! So, there was cake, food, friends, family and a lot of laughing. I felt so loved.
*So Monday was an R&R day. We got home from the lake around 1 pm and we all took naps (LOVE THAT). We had a nice meal together and some birthday cake then watched cartoons before heading to bed early.
Yep -certainly was an action packed weekend. I'd love to tell you that I thought about taking pictures, but it never occurred to me! My friend Carrie took a few, so when I see those I will post them for you all to enjoy.
Well, the next time I post I will be ... 30. I can hardly believe that on Monday I will no longer be in my 20's. I am not going to lie, I am having a hard time with it. GULP. Did 30 bother you?

Some Funny Hoffman Happenings

Hello. I just thought I would share a few stories that have happened over the last few days. I can't make this stuff up nor could this stuff happen to anyone but us! Enjoy.

Aiden came home the other day with a prize medal around his neck. I asked him what he did to earn that and he said, "Well, I was in a race with my Amish classmate and I won!" Huh - only in our region would you hear this statement.

Aiden came home and said, "Mom, adios means good bye in Amish!" I promptly said, "I think you mean SPANISH." And he said, "Yeah - whatever."

While I was getting ready for my graduation on Saturday I stopped to put Logan's tie on him. While doing so he stopped me and put his hands on my cheeks and said, "Mom - you look very pretty today." I love that kid.

On Sunday at the Mother's Day service at our old church, Logan was sitting on my lap holding my hand. I whispered in his ear that someday his hand would be bigger than mine. He looked up at me all surprised and said, "And my feet?" I said "Yep, and your feet." The he asked legs? and arms? and fingers ... yes yes and yes I said. Then he points back and forth to my chest area and says, "And those things????" Um, no honey. Not those things. :)

Ok - now a funny that happened to me on Tuesday. I had to make two trips into my office, so I left the driver's side door open to the Tahoe while I made my first trip. No big deal, right? Well ... when I returned to my Tahoe moments later, I reached for my McD's iced tea to see a pigeon sitting on the passenger seat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shouted a word I probably shouldn't have and walked "calmly and swiftly" over to the passenger side. I opened the door and only had to shew it three times before it exited the vehicle. Whew! Crisis averted ... with no pooping (well, not on the birds behalf at least!!!)

Seriously ... a day in the life of a Hoffman is NEVER boring!

Graduation

Hello! I am finally getting around to update my blog about graduation. Everything went great. We went down on Friday night and camped at Mounds State Park in the new camper. The boys were super excited. Saturday was a long day - but it was great. The slide show shows most of the festivities. Thank you to everyone that sent well wishes or came to the graduation itself. I know a lot of people helped get the open house ready and made sacrifices to come see me. I love you all for that. It was a great day and I finally feel like a college graduate. Now on to the next chapter in my life ... whatever THAT may be!!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Hello. Many of you have heard - but I've been WAY under the weather lately. It started Friday morning when I noticed that my chest and back were hurting. Felt like someone was sitting on me. As the day wore on, I started to feel worse. By 6 pm I had a fever of 101.3 and I was in bed. Saturday was Aiden's first t-ball game and I found the strength to go but landed back in bed shortly after. That's where I was for the next 24 hours. Marcus came in on Sunday and asked if we could go to the doc - so off we went. He ran a few tests and decided I had acute bronchitis and pleurisy. He prescribed an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and Tylenol 3. All of that did a number on me. I quit taking the Tylenol 3 once nothing would settle in my stomach and I was dizzy all the time ... but even after no Tylenol 3 for 24 hours, I was still getting ill. So - Tuesday night we headed back to the doc. He took me off the antibiotic for 24 hours and started a pill for nausea. Today I am weak, but have managed to eat some and drink a lot of fluids. I am actually going to eat with the family tonight! And try working tomorrow. I am so glad I am feeling better. I seriously felt bad enough yesterday that I thought graduation this Saturday was not going to be an option for me.
Everyone STAY WELL!
