Curling Iron Fire

WHEW ... or should I say ... PEEEEEWWWWW!

I lost a curling iron today due to a curling iron fire. I haven't decided if it's a good thing that I was actually HOLDING the curling iron when it happened or not! Here's the story:

I was doing my top 'curl' in order to get the height that I soooo think I need. I noticed in the mirror that there was smoke billowing out of it. I thought to myself, "Self ... your hair isn't wet is it!?" NOPE ... not remotely! I took the iron out of my hair to see more and more smoke billowing and the handle getting very hot. I yanked the cord to unplug it and ran over to the tub to run the water over it. In the meantime, the smoke alarm goes off (glad to see, er - hear it works) and the kids come running in to see what mommy had burnt this time (normally it's something to eat ... this actually looked better than some of the dishes I have tried to prepare). What a morning! I'll try to take pics of it tonight if I think about it ... and the lovely hair do that I am now sporting due to the lack of curling!

I think this calls for a hair cut that does not require a curling iron! Or ... maybe it's a good excuse to spend $100 on the Paul Mitchell Smoothing Iron I so covet at the time!

A day in the life ... nothing is never boring at our place!

Have a wonderful ... smokeless week!

Hello.
I am sharing this pictures 1) becuase they crack me up 2) because I kind of feel like this week has been one for the toliet!
Just having a rough week here at work which is caused my other aspects of life to not jive well. I had a final project due in a marketing class that my heart was just not there for, I have had time to play with the boys, but again, no heart. I hate that I can let issues at work come into my personal life. Needless to say, I am ready to start a new week and even more ready for the weekend.
I heard the COO of Chic-Fil-A speak this week. He made a comment that has stuck with me. "To be successful in business you only need two things: a palm pilot and more importantly the bible. These two things can guide your days." I tend to think that the bible needs to come first. I know that for me personally, that has not been the case (although I do not have a plam pilot either and I am HORRIBLE and keeping my calendars up to date). Maybe I should try the bible idea ...
Thoughts?

Lots of Easter pictures

I hope you all had as wonderful of an Easter weekend as we did. Friday I was off from work so that's when the four of us had our family day together. Marcus made a wonderful breakfast of french toast, eggs, oranges, apples and bananas then we gave the boys their baskets and let them find eggs. They were wonderful most of the day. We even went shopping that evening and out to eat. Saturday I was able to scrapbook again for a few hours ... LOVE THAT! Sunday was sun rise service at the church. We had to be there at 6:30 in the morning for choir practice! Those of you that know me know how hard that was for us ... but we did it! Service was good ... Aiden's story about the chocolate bunnies (see last post) was used in the sermon ... he'll sign autographs later! HAHAHA! After the breakfast at church it was time for much needed naps and then we headed to my parents to do baskets and more egg hunting. It was a great weekend ... thus all the pics. ENJOY!

Another Aiden Funny

Aiden had his preschool Easter egg hunt yesterday. He told me all about it and then I asked him if they learned about the Easter story. He looked at me a bit confused so I explained that the Easter story included the reason we take communion (which he has learned about recently). He looked up at me and with the straightest face said, "Mom ... we did NOT eat Jesus' body ... we ate chocolate bunnies!" Bunnies ... eggs ... whew! This Easter thing can be complicated!

Another funny he did last night: Marcus made the hot dogs that have cheese inside. As soon as Aiden bit into one he looked up at Marcus and said, "Sweet dogs Dad." HAHAHA! This child is scary sometimes.

Well ... I hope you all have a very happy Easter with your families. We are having family day tomorrow. I'll share pics!

The Pox

Hello!

It's been a long time since I've posted. I am feeling much better ... finally! That was the worst case of strep I have ever had. Once I started feeling better we found out the the boys had chicken pox. They had the vaccination, but still were lucky enough to break out. Aiden only has two pox and Logan has a handful. They've been spending quality time with "Different Grandma" while recovering from the pox. I hear that they are doing fine and hardly noticing the places, so that is good.

Had another great Saturday full of scrappin'. It's fun to get together with girlfriends and just chat ... and scrap of course! Thanks Steph for driving down to join us.

I have some fun new pics I need to post. I will try to do so some time this week. I have a busy week! ARG!

I'm sick!

Hi.

Just letting you all know that I have not fallen off the face of the earth ... I have strep! I have been home, in bed since Thursday morning. I just saw my kids for the first time since Thurs am. We went out to eat for my sis' bday. I couldn't eat, I was not fun to be with, and my sister and bro-in-law (nurse and dr. to be) told me to go to the med check. Soooo, off we went. They did a mono test ... negative for now. Strep was positive. They gave me some antibiotics via a shot in the hip (for dr's and nurses, they need to learn the difference between a 'hip' and the 'rear end' b/c that shot was NOT in my hip!) ANYWAY ... they also changed my meds. More rest for Carrie. I never thought I would be tired of doing nothing and sleeping all day ... but I am to that point. I just want to feel better. So ... if you don't mind, say a prayer or two for me.
I'll write more when I feel better.
Love,
Carrie

Early Easter

We discussed this @ bible study the other night. A friend forwarded this to me. I am unsure if it's true ... I guess I am assuming so ... it sounds true! Let me know if you know differently.

"With Easter coming in just under 3 weeks, I thought you might be interested in this piece of trivia I received today. The date of this coming Easter is quite early this year, but I didn't realize the details shown below:
Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify Passover which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.
Here's the interesting info. This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years old or above!). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier!
Here's the facts:
1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!).
2) The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!"

Just thought you'd find this interesting!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Good morning!
It's 59 degrees out this am! That's just crazy to me. But don't you worry ... we are supposed to have freezing rain tonight. Back to reality!
Took the boys to see Veggie Tales on Friday. We ended up having a group of 17! It was nice to have extra hands around to help with all of the little ones. I am 99% sure that the Hoffman's spilled more popcorn than we actually ate. Oops!
This weekend was Aiden's baseball camp. From what I hear, he had a wonderful time. Papaw JJ took him to buy a new bat and helmet. Logan didn't quite understand that they were for Aiden's camp and we literally had to pry them away from him. I have no pictures of Aiden in his equipment ... just Logan trying to figure out how to do it. You'll notice that the bat was held upside down most times.
Last night I told Aiden about Tara (dog) being put to sleep today. I explained that Tara is older (she would be 15 next Tuesday) and the dogs hurt when they get old. I told him that Daddy might be sad tonight. Aiden is going to offer his black lab stuffed puppy dog to Daddy in case he wants to sleep with him tonight. I also told Aiden that Tara is older than Mommy, Daddy, Gma and Gpa's. He looked at me and said, "You know the Grandma that broke her arm that lives way far away???? She's old." So ... I got to explain that yes, Grandma Davis (my gma, his great gma out in MO.) is older, but she is not hurting like Tara. That was a fun one! All in all, the talk went well. He didn't mention it the am, but he did take his black lab puppy to sleep with @ Valerie's.
Well ... I guess that's it for now. Have a wonderful week!
Love,
Carrie
