Never under estimate the power of Tom and Jerry

Hello!

Last night we celebrated Nick's 26th birthday. While on the way to Anderson, Aiden requests a song. I asked what song he would like to hear and he chimes in: I fell in to a burning ring of fire ... I went down down down and the flames went higher ... HAHAHA! I had no clue he knew that song. Then he requested Boy Name Sue also by Johnny Cash. Oh man ... what have we gotten ourselves into? We made it to the restaurant and Aiden sang he new favorite song to the family ... even the low notes. It was very cute. He also showed them how he can snap. Ever watch "In Living Color?" There was a skit with two guys that would snap in a "Round the world formation ..." Yeah ... that's Aiden's snapping motion. He snapped and said, "Go baby go!" at the same time. Quite entertaining (and scary).

The festivities ended around 9:30. We got the boys home and in pj's by 10. We told the boys that we would watch Tom and Jerry (or Cat and Mouse as they call it) and then we'd head to bed. It may have been the best 28 minutes of the week thus far. Aiden laid on the couch with his head in my lap and Logan sat with daddy in the rocking chair. At one point I noticed that both mommy and daddy were stroking the boys' hair. Logan's blinks were lasting longer and longer and Aiden would need to do a sudden movement now and again to insure he wasn't falling asleep. It was just a nice time as a family ... weird how we can reconnect via Tom and Jerry. Who knew!?!?!

Just for fun

A friend emailed me this and thought it would be fun to do on my blog. I agree ... so here goes!

'My Story'

Hi, my name is: Carrie
Never in my life have I: liked mashed potatoes
The one person who can drive me nuts is: myself!
My high school is: small but fun
When I am nervous: I get louder than normal!
The last song I listend to was: Amazing Grace by Chris Tomlin
If I were to get married right now it would be to: Marcus again, just the way we did it the first time ... short, simple and small.
My hair is: short ... just got it cut last night and I love it!
When I was 4: I had a one year old sis, Jamie.
Last Christmas: was wonderful. We got to spend it with a lot of family and it was fairly stress free! Who knew!?!?!
I should be: working
When I look down I see: A great pair of brown boots
The happiest recent event was: getting an 'A' in stats! And the arrival of my nephew, Gavin.
If I were a charcter on 'Friends': I would be Rachel - only she is wayyyyyy more pretty! The character I am least like: Monica ... that cleanin' freak!
By this time next year: I will have my bachelor's degree and will be looking to buy a new house!
My current gripe is: Do I have to pick just one?
I have a hard time understanding: nearly everything!
There's these girls: that are Marcus' cousins that I love too death. There are also these girls that are in my bible study that get me through week to week, day by day. What would we do without email!?!?!
If I won an award, the first person I would tell would be: Marcus
I want to buy: Well, this minute it's a $160 smoothing iron for my hair! I know, it won't happen, but that's all that's on my mind right now.
Where do you plan to visit: Beats me!
If you spent the night at my house: you would be listening to both boys cough their heads off, a snoring husband and the dog moan when he rolls over. Sounds exciting doesn't it?
The world could do without: mashed potatoes ... I hate those things!
Most recent thing someone else bought me: Marcus brought home flowers the other day ... oh ... and he bought me a space heater yesterday. Ahhhhhh.
My middle name is: Lynn
In the morning I: dread getting out from under the covers!
Last night I was: happy to be home with my family.
There's this guy I know who: loves me and is so patient with me ... he's amazing!
If I was an animal I'd be a: Cat ... Marcus and I just talked about this the other night! Cats nap all the time, they are lazy (not that I am proud of that) and they are very picky about who they like, but if they like you - they won't leave you alone. That's me in a nut shell!
Tomorrow I am: going to be glad that it's Friday!
Tonight I am: going to be sitting in four hours of Econ!
My birthday is: in June.

WOW ... now is that more information about me than you EVER cared about!?!?! Thought so!
Love,
Carrie

Hello!

Well ... the boys are home sick once again. We just can't shake this runny nose, cough and fever thing. Marcus isn't feeling well either. I can tell that we will have a fun week ahead!

The students have returned to campus so I feel like it's actually 'alive' again. It's so boring when they aren't around, even though I don't have anything to do with traditional aged students. I love hearing them talk right outside of my office. The things that they are so concerned about (who is riding with whom to the game, where are they going to meet up for a party, who is buying the booze ... what!!!! Not at AU!!!) are so funny to me as those items are not what brings me joy or stress these days. Oh to be 18, 19 or 20 again! And can I just say that I do not get the trend of wearing winter boots (I think they are called Uggs) and a mini skirt with no hose!!! I just don't understand.

Anyway, have a wonderful week!

Last Year ... Jamaica or bust!

Well, last year at this time we were packing our bags for Montego Bay, Jamaica! We left on Jan 14 and returned on the 19th. I have found myself thinking about that trip a lot lately ... probably because of the weather and lack of quality time with Marcus lately. So, if I am more scatter-brained than normal ... blame it on 'beach-brain' as I know I'll be daydreaming a lot this week!

Have a wonderful weekend with your families!
Love,
Carrie

hoorAy!

I have to brag on myself for a sec! As most of you know, I am finishing my bachelor's degree ... something well overdue. Most of you also know that I never was a great student the first time around. WELL ... I am currently a straight A student! I just found out that I earned an "A" in stats (not a fun class)! I would have been happy with a "B" but I am THRILLED with an "A!" I may have to have a pop in celebration (is it bad that I am ready to break my New Year's resolution already!?! hahahaha!)

Now on to Economics ... ick!

Have a great day,
Carrie

Welcome 2008

Hello! Happy New Year to all of you. And I hope you all had quality family time these last two weeks as we have had. We traveled out to Missouri to see my grandparents and great granny along with all the aunts, uncle and cousins. Lots of little boys running around playing, lots of laughter, lots of food, lots of football ... I could go on and on. I've added a few pictures - but the one that is most important to me right now is the one with the Five Generations in my family. Granny Fannon is sitting, Grandma Davis is the one with her arm in a cast, my mother is standing beside me and my sister is on the arm of the chair, then of course Aiden, Logan and Gavin.
During all of the festivities in Missouri, I asked my grandpa if he knew when he had his four children that they would create all of this (pointing to all of the great grandchildren and grandchildren playing with their new toys, all the cousins laughing and teasing one another, and the brothers and sisters picking on one another) and he said, "Yep ... I sure did. That's what I prayed for!" Isn't that really what all of it's about? Family and watching how our family grows and changes throughout the years?
As for the new year ... I normally do not do New Year's Resolutions, but I am going to give it a shot this year. Of course I need to lose weight, so I am going to cut out my pop intake. Anyone that knows me knows that I am LOVE my Coke and Root Beer, so it should be interesting. I keep telling myself that if Marcus can quit smoking cold turkey, then I can give up something like pop. We all have a vice I guess!
Well, I could share a lot of little stories from the last couple of weeks and it's festivities, but I'll just leave with a quote from a plaque that was given to my great aunt ... "The best things in life aren't things ..." How appropriate after these last few days?
With love,
Carrie
